Dia Beacon X Common Ground Farm: Home School on the Farm: “Mineral Drawing”

This was one session of a multi-session education program offered by Dia Beacon and Common Ground Farm. After students and their guardians gathered at Common Ground, we had a conversation about the minerals in the earth and the minerals in our body. After a mindfulness exercise based on the film by Charles and Ray Eames “The Powers of Ten”, we made drawings using ochre and chalk pastels, which contain the minerals iron-oxide and calcium - the same minerals that exist in our blood and our bones.
